Cezz624 rates this game: 4/5A great party game in it's heyday, Mario Party 2 is a blast to play with friends and family.I have the actual cartridge and still play this game on my old Nintendo 64. It is just amazing! Mario Party 2 mixes fun boardgame style maps with crazy minigames that make this game a must have party game. But there is ONE bad thing about Mario Party 2, and that is playing by yourself with the cpus. The cpus cheat frequently on hard mode and that gets you real frustrated. The mini-game coaster mode(In which you play EVERY minigame in an order to unlock more stuff) is nice but, on hard mode, it gets real intense! It's crazy, fun, but mostly, frustrating. The minigames in Mario Party 2 are fun but, there are always a few that are boring and you will never play them again. The boards are pretty fun with each having it's own twist in them,(Horror Land, Mystery Land, Pirate Land, etc.)but them all having the same objective. Collect as many coins from minigames, chances, and more, to buy stars from Toad to win the game. It's simple yet, fun. Mario Party 2 is awesome. You should try it out to see what I mean.
Pocket69 rates this game: 4/5Mario Party 2 takes the same formula from Mario Party and makes it better. Keeping fan favorite mini games from the first installment it has new boards that create a more frantic atmosphere than the original! Join a couple friends for a game and realize that you're all pitted against each other once one of you lands on the Boo space.
SushiBrawl rates this game: 5/5For a N64 game, this game is pretty amasing. There's just something about that you can't find in the other Mario Party games. Mario Party offers a board game style play and throws in mini games too. You play these mini games for coins and help you along the board. The game itself is irresistable andI always find a chance to play it with friends. With it's great mini games and Mario charm, this game is a definite get.
Brendoge rates this game: 5/5Mario Party has a long history of providing gamers the chance to bring together their friends and family for ultimate party fun - as only the lovable and quirky character of Nintendo can provide. Mario Party 2 is my personal favourite installment, bringing the greatest hits from the original back for another round.
Join recurring favourites such as Mario, Luigi, Wario, Princess Peach, Yoshi and Donkey Kong - each looking to get the theme park in their own respective names.
You'll have amazing fun as personallities clash between classic roll and move board game play and over 60 fantastic minigames that the whole family will enjoy! Mario Party with its roots with hilarious, incredible, engaging party fun, this is Mario Party as it is best, the arguably greatest of all titles currently - go for it!
Mystics Apprentice rates this game: 5/5Mario Party 2 is basically a spin-off of the original Mario Party, only more enhanced with new games and twists.
The game is very similar to that of a board game. You work around the board trying to get to stars before the other players and the one with the most stars at the end of the game wins. Unlike the first game, you are rewarded stars for having the most coins, won the most mini games, etc.
There are also many new features in Mario Party 2. There are several new types of spaces that you can land on, and also during mini games (which I found as a huge improvement) you don't lose money even if you lose the game. Also each course is themed, and the characters dress up in costumes to fit that theme (it's actually a very fun twist. For instance in Pirate Land everyone's dressed up in pirate clothes, Western Land cowboys, and so on).
Some of the same mini games were kept from the original Mario Party, but either were enhanced or altered in some way. Most of the games, however are new to Mario Party 2. So you can own all the Mario Party's, but it's not as though you have a bunch of the same game, as each game has it's own unique courses/mini games.
Out of Mario Party's 1-3, I have to say #2 was my favorite.
