Asuka 120% Special Burning Festival is a 2D fighting game featuring an all female cast of characters whose fighting styles are based on various club activities such as cheer-leading, martial arts, baseball, and chemistry. The game has many mechanics most notably seen in newer anime fighters such as clashing, guard cancel, air blocking, double jumps, and dodges despite the fact that this version of the game was released in 1996. The game features punch and kick buttons with some button combinations for certain attacks. Special move inputs are very easy compared to other 2D fighters and R1 is even set as a shortcut button for special moves by default. The game is also surprisingly fast paced as well. The controls can be a little sensitive as holding buttons down count as repeated inputs, but this was pretty ahead of its time. There is another version with additional tweaks and balances available for the PlayStation 1 in the form of Asuka 120% Final Burning Festival.
