Medievil (PSX)

MediEvil was released by Sony on Oct 1st, 1998. The game takes place in a fictional place called Gallowmere. You play as Sir Daniel Fortesque, one of Gallowmere's best knights. Infact, story has it that Sir Dan lost his life earlier in a battle and then is revived by mistake through some magic.
The game itself is reminiscent of Ghosts N' Goblins and you go about hacking and slashing many an eerie looking baddie. However, the game has a puzzle element to it which adds a lot of intrigue into the gameplay. Basically, to cross any area and head to the next you have to learn how to partake in a certain action. Once you've done so, you realise that you can actually use that particular move to access objects which were unreachable in earlier stages of the game.
Graphically, MediEvil has many flaws, there are a bunch of camera problems and there is a certain amount of pop-up in certain areas of the game. However, the game doesn't fail to fulfil it's purpose, character detail is acceptable, as are other aspects. All in all, MediEvil is a title that begs to be different and does succeed in being so. Worth a shot at checking out : )
