Erm, There isn't really one. You can, and will, cause several BILLION hitpoints in damage in a single attack with even a well-boosted basic cheap dagger.
Over several years, and numerous sequels, they threw out every rule and trope of turn-based strategy, and this version is possibly the definitive version, with cameos from later games and various other changes to fit the time that's passed.
Get this game, and, when someone tells you, 'I have a Level 99 Bard', look at them, straightfaced, 'I have a Level 9999 Demon Lord', and grin.
